CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT JONATHON E. CAUGHLAN
CMSgt Jonathon E. Caughlan is currently assigned as the 8th State Command Chief for the Indiana Air National Guard, Stout Field, IN. He is the senior enlisted leader for the Air National Guard Component and provides strategic leadership and vision to the State’s enlisted force. He is the principal advisor to all commanders and senior staff on mission effectiveness, professional development, accelerated promotions, military readiness, training, utilization, health, morale, and welfare of the State’s nearly 2000 enlisted personnel, taking action to address shortfalls and/or challenges. Chief Caughlan is the principal liaison between the enlisted personnel, the Adjutant General and the Assistant Adjutant General for Air/Commander, Indiana Air National Guard.
Sergeant Caughlan enlisted in March of 2001. He attended the Aircraft Armament Systems Technician course at Sheppard Air Force Base (AFB), Wichita Falls, Texas in March 2002. He was assigned to the 181st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Hulman Field, Terre Haute, Indiana as a weapons load crew member on the F-16C/D, deploying in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. In 2008, the 181st Fighter Wing was realigned to a new mission. Sergeant Caughlan transferred to the 122d Fighter Wing in April of 2008. Sergeant Caughlan certified on the A-10C, deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM, INHERENT RESOLVE, and FREEDOMS SENTINEL, and proudly wore the Diamond for two tours in the 122d Security Forces Squadron, and as the Wing First Sergeant. Prior to his current position, the master sergeant was the Group Senior Enlisted Leader, 122d Maintenance Group, 122d Fighter Wing, Fort Wayne Air Guard Base, Indiana Air National Guard.
In his civilian capacity, the sergeant is a Technical Operations Manager over Engineering Laboratories for a Fortune 100 company in Indiana. With experience in tool and test equipment design, mechanical engineering, precision calibration, and measurement techniques, Sergeant Caughlan leads an organization of over 50 skilled professionals in providing specialized product testing services to global engineering and manufacturing sites within the company and its supplier network.
