As a member of the Indiana Air National Guard and the 122nd Fighter Wing for 37 years and counting, Brig. Gen. Stohler brings a wealth of experience to this position. His career began in 1985 as an enlisted crew chief. He was later commissioned into a F-16 pilot position in 1990.
After completing UPT as a distinguished graduate, Brig. Gen. Stohler went on to complete weapons school and serve as the 163rd Fighter Squadron Commander, the 122nd Operations Group Commander, the 122nd Fighter Wing Vice Commander, and the State Director of Operations. Additionally, he supported Combatant Commanders in Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and INHERENT RESOLVE, both as a pilot and in serving as the deputy group command/group commander at Bagram AB, Afghanistan in 2012 and the Air Expeditionary Group/Group Commander at Ahmad al-Jabar AB, Kuwait in 2015.
Brig. Gen. Stohler has served as the Commander of the 122nd Fighter Wing since April of 2018, leading the wing successfully through several major deployments, evaluations, and exercises.
