A recurring event is the U.S. Special Operations Command Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics (SOF AT&L) center conduct annual technical experimentation (TE) events at Atterbury-Muscatatuck.

The TE events provide opportunities for engineers from government, academia and industry technology to interact with operational personnel to determine how their technology development efforts and ideas can evolve to better support or enhance Special Operations Forces (SOF) capabilities. Technology Capabilities

Cyber Program

Advanced, live, full-scale cyber-physical range offering fully integrated Cyber Electromagnetic Activity (CEMA) environment, complete with training and exercise support. Access to a high fidelity, cyber-physical environment, events and exercises are conducted through the integration of a robust virtual environment, closed-loop wireless network, live and full-scale hardware in the loop (HWIL) / Industrial Control Systems (ICS). Range offers critical infrastructure systems that are capable of supporting offensive and defensive operations.

Data Networks

Key data networks are available for use at the site. The sites utilize Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN) technology to deliver these services via the core network backbone, including commercial internet as well as Department of Defense (DOD) Testing Networks. This capability allows for peering into other networks that are vital to the National Testing Network capability while utilizing our Crane NSWC partnership and the national Testing and Evaluation (T&E) capability.

Voice Systems

Robust telecommunication architecture consisting of multimode fiber as well as a significant amount of new single mode fiber covering the 400+ structures on-site. A well-developed closed network wireless environment consisting of 3G and 4G LTE networks that can replicate numerous cellular phone towers, and separate cellular providers which can be used in a multitude of testing and training events. Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is available on-site for use as required.

Urban Terrain Zones

Facilities have a set of representative geotypical building types comprised of a comprehensive data set of types and specifications per Urban Terrain Building Types Publication, ARL-TR-4395. Specific requirements and data sets for each building type are maintained, which include building exterior and interior materials, construction, dimensions, cultural influences, building types and number of structures.

Other Capabilities

Clearance has been granted for specific ground-based Electronic Attack (EA) events to occur at the site. The classified document is available as needed and can be provided via SIPR if required. Air traffic in the area of the sites as well as the adjacent area can be viewed via the access to Joint, Windows-Based Warfare Assessment Model (JWINWAM). Moveable cameras are available for indoor video capture of testing events.
