Command Sergeant Major Aaron T. Lester serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the 38th Infantry Division. Prior to this role, he served as Senior Enlisted Advisor to the 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Kentucky Army National Guard.

During more than 28 years of military service, Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Lester has served in positions with increasing levels of responsibility, and has held leadership positions at all levels through Brigade. Key assignments include First Sergeant, 2061st Multi-Role Bridge Company, 206th Engineer Battalion; Regimental Command Sergeant Major and NCOES Commandant, 238th Regional Training Institute; Command Sergeant Major, 201st Engineer Battalion; Command Sergeant Major, 149th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.

Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Lester deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom 04-06 serving as a squad leader and Operations NCO. Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Lester has served over 24 years as an Active Guard Reserve in the Kentucky Army National Guard, where he has been assigned full-time positions from unit Training NCO through G3 Sergeant Major for Kentucky Army National Guard.

Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Lester enlisted into the Kentucky Army National Guard in January 1998 as a Field Artilleryman, Battery C, 1st Battalion 623rd Field Artillery, in Monticello, Kentucky. Cmd. Sgt. Maj. Lester has completed Primary Leadership Development Course; Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course; Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course; and the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy. He holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Leadership from Trident University International.

His military awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit and Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters.
