The Indiana State Legislature established the Railroad Grade Crossing Fund (RRGCF) (I.C. 8-6-7.7-6.1) to provide funding for railroad-highway crossing safety improvements throughout Indiana. The Crossing Closure Grant Program is a part of this fund. Local Public Agencies can receive an award to permanently close a railroad crossing within their community. Applications are accepted year-round for this program.
Crossing closure applications are accepted all year. Contact Brittany Olagundoye at bolagundoye@indot.in.gov for more information. Applicants will need to apply through the GRIP system via ITAP. The Crossing Closure Guidelines are below along with application instructions.
