Gravel Chute

This INDOT innovation improves shoulder repair by directing gravel exactly where it is needed. Crews often struggle to place stone on unpaved shoulders without creating hazards on the roadway or leaving rock trapped in rumble strips. The gravel chute places material precisely along the shoulder, with flow controlled by vehicle speed. This reduces cleanup, improves safety, and leaves little to no gravel on the travel lanes.
