Indiana Housing Dashboard

The Indiana Housing Dashboard – Version 2.0 was officially released on September 19, 2023, by a joint announcement from Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch and IHCDA.

"We place significant importance on building our workforce in the Hoosier state," said Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, Indiana's Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. "Housing is a huge part of Indiana’s economic development as we attract talent. The original housing dashboard provided a valuable tool to community leaders, and the new site provides an even broader data set as we continue to improve housing across the state."

The Dashboard has improved navigation within the site, upgraded existing charts and data, and has deployed a new comparison tool which presents the user with 25 graphs showing 10-year trends for up to five geographies simultaneously. Each section of the dashboard includes demographic and economic data, trends for homeowners and renters and other metrics which impact housing supply and affordability.

Dashboard 2.0

A key feature in the updated Dashboard is the “Take Action” section. This section includes guidance and resources for municipalities, non-profit organizations, community planning commissions and other members of the development community. It is designed to be an easy resource for local partners, helping them design policy, set priorities, develop local housing plans and collaborate directly with each other. Using the Take Action tool, a full housing report can be generated almost instantaneously, providing the user with over 85 data points needed for a complete housing needs assessment. The report can be downloaded as a PDF for presentation to constituency groups or as raw data in an Excel spreadsheet format for direct research and calculation.

"The housing market is constantly changing, sometimes with little warning, and that volatility can make it difficult to plan and respond," said Jake Sipe, IHCDA's Executive Director. "The new Indiana Housing Dashboard addresses that head-on. In minutes, communities can generate a free, comprehensive report using real-time data, allowing them to make quick, informed decisions on adapting their housing plans."
