Ed Thornburg is the Randolph County Surveyor. His office is open from 8 am to 4 pm M-F.
The Surveyor oversees the maintenance of the section markers that mark section boundaries and maintaining section marker records. Section Markers are visible online by using the GIS System.
The surveyor also oversees the maintenance of the county drain system, sometimes referred to as county tiles or county ditches, that provide for the proper flow of rainwater and snow melt runoff to minimize the risk of flooding in the county. He also maintains the Maps of the County Drain System.
- The Surveyor's Office maintains benchmarks, USGS Topo Maps, Wetland Inventory Maps, Flood Zone Maps, Surveyor's Records, aerials, and drain files.
- The Indiana Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) requires a state form to be signed by the Surveyor to verify the business location for ABC permits.
