- Pavement Asset Management
This Pavement Asset Management Plan satisfies the HB1001 State funding requirements. This plan must include the complete pavement inventory of the local agency.
- Floyd County Major Thoroughfare Study
Floyd County has recently completed its first Major Thoroughfare Study. The project was funded through a grant from Kentuckian Regional Planning and Development Agency (KIPDA). The proposed project analyzed traffic conditions including a multi-modal component, evaluated the current level of services for the transportation system, and assess future impacts on traffic and congestion patterns.
- Cornerstone 2005 Comprehensive Plan Update
The Cornerstone 2005 – A Vision for the Future is the county’s five-year update of its comprehensive land use plan. The components of the plan look at population projections, land use considerations; future land use needs assessment, and the development of medium-range goals and objectives for the community.
As part of the planning process, the county undertook a community-wide survey that gauged the interests and concerns of the public in terms of land use and growth. The results of this survey are part of the Cornerstone 2005 update and are available online.
- Historic Sites and Structures Survey
With the support of the Floyd County Board of Commissioners, the Floyd County Historic Society and Historic Landmarks Indiana have completed work on updating the Historic Sites and Structures in the unincorporated areas of Floyd County. The inventory booklet is available through the Floyd County Historic Society and Historic Landmarks of Southern Indiana.
- Highlander Point: Gateway Overlay Plan
In conjunction with the University of Louisville, School of Urban and Public Affairs, the Floyd County Planner’s Office has completed the first phase of the Highlander Point: Gateway Overlay District Plan. Seen as a growing commercial and residential hub, the Highlander Point area is a vital gateway corridor to the rest of the county. The following plan was developed to assist in the planning and development of this important corridor.
- Economic Development Strategy
Funded through a Caesars Foundation of Floyd County Grant
As a grant-funded project through the Caesars Foundation of Floyd County and In conjunction with the University of Louisville, School of Urban and Public Affairs, the Floyd County Planner’s Office has completed the first phase of an Economic Development Strategy for the County. The Economic Development report centered on the identification of business clusters in the community, determining the competitive advantages associated with these clusters and other community-based economic advantages, and highlighted the course of action for the community to pursue.
A second phase regarding the development of the Economic Development Strategy is ongoing. This phase is the compilation of infrastructure data into digital format to be used in the county’s Geography Information System (GIS). Funded through a generous grant from the Caesars Foundation of Floyd County, the digital data will also include demographic, economic, and land use data in a format that can be utilized by the general public and site selection firms. The anticipated release date of the GIS product is Mid-June 2008.
- Parks & Recreation Master Plan
Planning for New Albany Floyd County Parks and Recreation facilities is a vital endeavor to ensure not only the quality of life for a community but also enhance its economic development and community development efforts. The following master plan for the Parks & Recreation Department has been provided.
