Q&A with County Coordinator Diane Wulliman

What do you consider the key accomplishment(s) of your county’s bicentennial celebration?

  • Getting the community involved in the Torch Relay and getting that event organized.  The community involvement was slow in coming but it came together.

What Legacy Project do you most like to tell people about, and why?

  • I am not aware of any legacy projects in our area.  I think there is a dairy trail the is partially in Kosciusko County.  Unfortunately we were unable to find a qualifying project or get anyone on board to help with this.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your county's bicentennial celebration.

  • The torch relay was a highlight.  We also put together a county wide music program involving 600 or so adults and high school students that was very successful.

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your county's celebration?

  • Some information has been given to our county historical society, some is in a box in my basement right now.  We are working on having some things on display in the courthouse.

Do you have a website and/or social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)?

  • We did during the Bicentennial but we have shut those down.

Kosciusko County Legacy Projects

Kosciusko County

The county was named after the Polish general Tadeusz Kościuszko who served in the American Revolutionary War and then returned to Poland. The county seat is named after Warsaw, the capital of Poland.

Kosciusko County’s Lake Wawasee is the state’s largest natural lake.
