Forestry Property Alerts

The following may include road construction advisories, property and trail closures and other notices. Check with the property office for the latest updates.

Clark State Forest advisories

  • The Clark State Forest fire tower will be closed beginning on June 16, 2022 for improvements. This closure restricts use of the stairs that provide access to the towers lookout cab. This is a historical structure that requires specific processes and procedures to be followed before improvements can be made. As a result, improvements are expected to take up to one year. Once all improvements are completed, the tower will reopen. We apologize for the inconvenience.
  • Due to a water leak, the horse campground is without water. We anticipate service to return by March. We apologize for the inconvenience. You can contact the office at 812-294-4306 for periodic updates.

Ferdinand State Forest advisories

  • BLUE-GREEN ALGAE AT FERDINAND LAKE BEACH: Swimming and boating permitted. Avoid contact with algae. Avoid swallowing water while swimming. Take a bath or shower with warm soapy water after coming in contact with lake water. Do not use lake water for cooking or bathing. Do not allow your pets to swim or drink water where algae are present. More information.
