Indiana State Police Volunteer Police Chaplains provide emotional and spiritual support and assistance to ISP personnel, their immediate family members, and to members of the public who are victims of a crime or accident.
* In the absence of the Master of Divinity must have one of the following:
* Must be a high school graduate or equivalent G.E.D with 10 years of full-time ministry experience.
* B.A Degree in Philosophy or related field with 5 years of full-time ministry experience
* Must be ordained or equivalent in a faith group recognized by the U.S Military.
* Must possess a valid driver's license.
* Must possess expertise in the fields of theology, psychology, and group and family dynamics.
* Ability to relate personally with people with a wide range of varying backgrounds.
* Ability to work with people regardless of religious affiliation.
* Ability to work under pressure and successfully function in a stressful environment.
* Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
* Must be able to minister to the needs of Department personnel and/or their families.
