The Division of Radiology, Weights, and Measures provides guidance and assistance to Hoosiers and healthcare providers regarding radiation safety and protection.
The Division of Radiology, Weights, and Measures supports the:
- registration and compliance of radiation machines; and
- licensing of radiology professionals, such as radiologic technologists, limited radiographers, nuclear medicine technologists, and radiation therapists.
The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) maintains pages for each program. You may find links to the program pages and resources below.
Radiology Licensure
IDOH issues radiology permits, licenses, and certificates for eight categories.
Reciprocity
The State of Indiana does not have reciprocity with other states; this means that a permit, license, or certificate from another state is not accepted within the State of Indiana.
Requirements for Permits, Training, and Licenses/Certificates
Permits are required to complete clinical training in Indiana and are not licenses. Permits are issued to individuals when they enroll in an approved radiography education program. Upon completion of an approved education program, clinical training (with an active permit in Indiana), and passing an approved exam, an application for a license/certificate may be submitted.
