Welcome to Harrison County Indiana!
Harrison County has a wonderfully rich history in the emergence of Indiana as our 19th state and the establishment of Corydon as Indiana's first state capital. Just as the early representatives met under the Constitution Elm in Corydon to draft Indiana's first Constitution, the current members of Harrison County government are working hard to represent the needs and will of the people of Harrison County Indiana. Harrison County provides residents with a progressive business community, active social, civic, and religious organizations, and a friendly small-town feel.
Harrison County's rural location is just 25 minutes from the city center of Louisville, Kentucky, the nation's 16th largest city. The outstanding location and growing economy have made Harrison County one of Indiana's fastest-growing counties in recent years. For business or for pleasure we invite you to explore Harrison County Indiana and see for yourself why our community is an ideal place to live, work, and play.

Official Statement - Harrison County Noise Policy
"Thank you for reaching out regarding a county-wide noise ordinance. At this time, the Harrison County Board of Commissioners does not have a noise ordinance in place, and we do not have plans to implement one.
Our decision is based on several key factors that reflect the best interests of our taxpayers:
- Preserving Rural Character: Harrison County is a proud agricultural community. A noise ordinance could unfairly penalize our farmers and those using heavy equipment essential to our local economy.
- Fiscal Responsibility: Implementing such an ordinance would require significant taxpayer investment in specialized decibel-monitoring equipment and the training of personnel.
- Enforcement Constraints: Currently, our local resources are focused on public safety and essential services. We do not have the additional staffing required to monitor and enforce noise-level compliance across the county.
We encourage neighbors to communicate directly with one another to resolve concerns, as the spirit of neighborly cooperation is what makes Harrison County a great place to live."
Harrison County Veterans Department shares U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Scam Alert
Lisa Pritchard, Harrison County Veterans Service Office
lisa.pritchard@harrisoncounty.in.gov
Yesterday the VA received several calls from Veterans stating that they received texts from VA asking them to "update their information." The text included a link that redirected the recipient to a very legitimate-looking website where the unsuspecting could enter sensitive personal information for the "update." This is a scam!
VA does not send text messages to Veterans to offer updates on benefits, resources, and reminders for appointments. Veterans should be very cautious if they receive communications that ask for personal information or those that demand immediate payment.
If you received a suspicious text message (or email) please report it to VHA at (866) 842-4357. Scams related to VA benefits (VBA) should be reported to (833) 388-7233, and non-VA scams should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission at (877) 382-4357, or by contacting the FTC online at http:// reportfraud.ftc.gov/. These are all 24/7 contact resources.
Veterans are advised to block, delete, and report. And most importantly, do not click that link!
