Child Support Information

Every child has the right to the care and support of both parents, regardless of their marital status. The child support program enforces this right with the assistance of the Harrison County Prosecutors Office.

Please Note: DUE TO HEAVY CASELOADS, COURT APPEARANCES, STATE MANDATED TRAINING, AND PATERNITY TESTING, WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE A CHILD SUPPORT INVESTIGATOR.

The Harrison County Prosecutor's Office Child Support Division provides the following services:

  • Locating non-custodial parents
  • Establishing paternity
  • Paternity for the father
  • Paternity for the mother
  • Establishing and enforcing support orders
  • Establishing and enforcing medical support orders
  • Collecting current and past-due support payments
  • Reviewing and adjusting support orders

The Harrison County Prosecutor may use one or all of the following enforcement tools to secure child support payments.

  • Income withholding from the non-custodial parent's employer
  • Interception of income tax refunds (state and federal)
  • Interception of unemployment compensation benefits
  • Interception of lottery winnings
  • Credit bureau reporting
  • Driver's and professional license suspension
  • Financial institution data match (locating of bank assets)
  • Cross-matching new hire reporting
  • Hunting and fishing license suspension
  • Passport denial
  • Federal loan data matching
  • Computer automation of child support operations, including interfaces with numerous other state agency systems.
  • Liens: BMV and other personal property.

The State of Indiana child support online calculator is available by clicking on the link below. The calculator is based on the Indiana Child Support Guidelines which are also provided as a link below.

Child Support Payments:

Child support payments are made through the Harrison County Clerk's Office. Payments may be processed online on a secured connection by clicking the link provided below or in person in the Harrison County Clerk's office.

Make a Child Support Payment Online

When processing a child support payment over the Internet a 2.25% charge will be added for this service.  For example, when submitting a child support payment of $100 the total charged to the credit card would be $102.25.
