Candidate filing for the 2024 Primary Election in Harrison County begins at 8am, Wednesday, January 10th and ends at noon, February 9th. All School Board offices are elected in the General, or Fall, Election.
Candidates for the Primary Election must complete the CAN-2 and CAN-12 forms and submit them, in person, to the Circuit Court Clerk’s office at 300 North Capitol Avenue, Corydon (the Courthouse). Candidates for precinct committeeman and convention delegates must submit the CAN-37 and CAN-12 to the Clerk also. Only Republican precinct committeemen are elected in 2024. Democratic precinct committeemen will be elected in 2026.
If the Office sought has a salary of $5,000 or more per year, or the candidate spends or receives more than $100, the CFA-1 must be submitted no later than noon 10 days after candidacy filing or if filing within the last week no later than noon February 16th. The CFA -1 may be filed at the time of filing for office.
Who May File a Candidacy Document
A candidate or a representative of a candidate; or, in the event of ballot vacancy or elected office vacancy, the chair of the caucus or a representative of the chair of the caucus, may file any candidacy document with the county election board, county voter registration official, or the Indiana Election Division.
The candidacy document needs to be completed and, if applicable, notarized since a notary cannot notarize a signature unless the individual is present and signs the document before them. Candidacy documents, including petitions of nomination, must be original and received not later than the stated deadline.
