Sheriff L. H. Elliott is buried in Emery Cemetery in Lafountaine, Indiana. Sheriff Elliott was born on May 24, 1821 and died in Wabash County on March 4, 1890. Not much is known on Sheriff Elliott’s life but I was able to locate an obituary from the Marion Chronicle from March 15, 1890.

Death of L.H. Elliott

L. H. Elliott, who resided just over the line in Wabash County, died this morning from a combination of disorders brought on by la grippe. Mr. Elliott was about sixty-eight years of age. He was a former resident of this county and one of its leading citizens. He was elected sheriff in 1863 and again in 1865 and made an excellent officer. He leaves a wife and one daughter. The funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at Lafontain.
