MPO’s are organizational entities or units of general-purpose local government designated by the Governor to carry out the continuing, cooperative, and comprehensive (3C) multimodal transportation planning process prescribed by 23 U.S.C. 134 and 49 U.S.C. 5303. Each urbanized area with a population of more than 50,000 individuals (as determined by the U.S. Census Bureau during the latest decennial census) is served by one of Indiana’s 14 MPOs.
