Indiana Police Supervisor Core Course (IPS Core)
Course Overview
The IPS Core is designed to be a hard-hitting two-day course to provide the police supervisor with a basic leadership model and an overview of police liability and police discipline. Incorporated into this two-day core will be a methodology to begin developing a leadership philosophy and a unit expectation dialogue.
Day One is spent examining the five practices and ten commitments of exemplary leadership as developed by Kouzes and Posner. Police leaders will come away with a five-part leadership model. A portion of this day is also spent on an exercise to help develop a personal leadership philosophy. The morning of Day Two will be spent re-examining general concepts that expose leaders and those they have thee honor to lead to liability. The first line supervisor is one of the most controlling influences that can diminish the exposure to liability in the police setting. The afternoon on Day Two is spent exploring a holistic approach to police discipline. It emphasizes knowing what is normal about those you guide and direct so that you know when attendance performance or behavior is other than normal. The key in this approach is intervening as soon as issues can be articulated.
The Indiana Police Supervisor Core is a quick but detailed look at three components of police leadership that are at the center of how the critical supervisory ranks lead their people.

Sage Dynamics Red Dot Instructor Class
The optic equipped handgun is not a new concept, though in the last decade technology has improved to allow for the Miniature Red Dot Sight (MRDS) to be reliably mounted to handguns intended for duty and general self-defense carry. With fundamental differences in techniques between the MRDS handgun and the rifle, instruction on the MRDS handgun presents unique problems for the instructor when introducing their students to proper skill development with their duty or carry MRDS handgun.
The RDS Handgun Instructor course is a culmination of years of MRDS handgun skill and technique development, made available to shortcut instructor trial/error on their own. This course will provide the trainer with a comprehensive understanding of common MRDS operations and science, as well as concepts and principles for teaching students to best use their MRDS duty or carry handgun. Students will be expected to meet minimum marksmanship requirements in order to complete this course.

Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE)
This free 16-hour course, created by NHTSA, is intended to bridge the gap between the SFST and DRE programs. Most officers are familiar with the signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment but are less sure what to look for when it comes to drug impairment. This course will help officers learn how to observe, identify, and articulate the signs of impairment related to drugs.
Students will be given an overview of the seven types of drug categories and the physiological effects these drugs have on the human body. In addition, we will cover medical conditions that can produce similar signs of impairment.
During the course students will receive any updates in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. Legal issues associated with impaired driving, and pre-arrest & post-arrest procedures will also be discussed.
Course Topics include:
* The concept of “drugs” in the context of OWI enforcement
* The role of eye examinations in disclosing the possibility of impairment
* Medical conditions and other situations that can produce similar signs of impairment
* Identification of the major categories of drugs
* The observable effects of each of the seven major categories of drugs
* The physiological effects likely to result from various combinations of drugs
* Appropriate procedures for dealing with drug-impaired or medically-impaired suspects
* Standardized Field Sobriety Test updates
** Note: This training DOES NOT qualify an officer as a Drug Recognition Expert, but DOES serve as an SFST Refresher for ICJI grant purposes.
Course Prerequisite:
All students must have successfully completed the NHTSA Basic Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Course prior to attending this course.

Course Description- This course (taught by ProFirst Training and Consulting) is one of the most comprehensive physical surveillance
training programs in the nation. The training is divided into both classroom training and field exercises.

often with little to no training. This can compromise officer safety, but it can also jeopardize an investigation.
We prepare the student to work in a team environment, conducting fixed and moving surveillance
with a vehicle and while on foot.
