The Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS) operates Indiana’s Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) program supporting individuals with all types of physical and mental disabilities to achieve employment. BRS also provides specialized services to Hoosiers with hearing and visual disabilities and serves as the designated state entity for Indiana’s Independent Living Network.
Programs and Resources
BRS helps connect deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals and their families with valuable resources. We also provide entrepreneurial opportunities for Vocational Rehabilitation participants who are legally blind and provide services to persons with disabilities through the Centers for Independent Living.
Employment Assistance
Vocational Rehabilitation
Vocational Rehabilitation supports eligible individuals with disabilities to explore employment interests, find their first job, obtain assistive technology to maintain employment, re-enter employment, obtain training needed for employment and advance in employment through a career pathway.
Business Enterprise Program
The Indiana Business Enterprise Program, as a part of the Randolph-Sheppard Act, provides people who are blind with access to rewarding and profitable entrepreneurial ventures such as military food service contracts, convenience stores, laundry facilities, snack bars and vending machine operations.
