Motorola APX CPS Radio Programming Classes
The Office of Emergency Communications is offering free Motorola APX CPS programming classes for public safety programmers. Session one is Oct. 20-21 and session two is Oct. 22-23.

These classes provide an opportunity to build the skills necessary to have greater independence in building and editing radio templates and program the APX family of radios. The class is designed for technicians and managers who will utilize Motorola APX CPS programming software for a variety of systems and needs.
These classes are highly coveted, so the process will begin with applications opening Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026. Due to limited class size, enrollment restrictions may apply. To be considered applicants must have, or be able to acquire, the following before the class session or they may forfeit their spot:
- APX programming cables
- Laptop with current CPS software
- Activated Advanced System Key
- Link to portal: Advanced System Key Portal
- APX radio (preferred)
- APX programming template (a.k.a. codeplug)
- An active Motorola Learning Center account
- Link to login/register: Motorola Learning Management Portal
The deadline to submit applications for the course is Sept. 25 with acceptance emails to be sent out on or around Sept. 30.
These classes are highly coveted and availability is limited, so interested parties are encouraged to apply early.
Radio Fundamental Skills
Sign up for our 2 hour Radio Fundamental Skills class. This class strips away all the "techie" jargon and provides first responders with the tactical proficiency required for todays complex radios. Highlights include: Navigate talkgroups and zones in your radio, troubleshoot radio issues, decode system feedback and learn how trunking systems work. These general sessions are open to any first responder in the state and you can sign up using the registration button below. Bring your radio to this FREE class and strengthen your communication skills.
