Advisory Opinions

These nonbinding advisory opinions are issued by the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission in response to prospective or hypothetical questions regarding the application of the ethics rules applicable to Indiana judges and lawyers. The Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission is solely responsible for the content of advisory opinions, and the advice contained in these opinions is not attributable to the Indiana Supreme Court.

Advisory opinions will be issued as the need arises, as determined by the Commission. Requests from individuals for a formal written advisory opinion will not be entertained by the Commission; such requests must come from an organized bar entity or agency.
