Center Township Assessor

The Assessor is charged with the fair and equitable assessment of real and personal property in Center Township. We are governed by the Indiana Code and Administrative code set by the Department of Local Government Finance.

We are responsible for the Reassessment and Trending done in Center Township and the auditing of the annual Business Personal Property returns.

The Center Township Assessor is elected to a 4 year term.

  • Assess real property (land and buildings) and personal property (e.g., business equipment, mobile homes) to determine fair market value for property tax purposes.
  • Conduct reassessments and trending of property values in the township as required by state law and local guidelines.
  • Audit and review annual business personal property returns to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Respond to and handle property assessment appeals, including reviewing petitions and potentially meeting with taxpayers about their assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessed values and property characteristics for all parcels in the township.
  • Apply uniform standards and professional appraisal practices as required by Indiana law in all assessment work.
  • Work within rules set by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance and follow statutory guidelines for assessments.
