John A. (Andy) Weidner - Staff Instructor

John A. (Andy) Weidner is a US Army veteran. He has an associate degree in criminal justice, from Univ. of Indianapolis and from IPD/IMPD after 25yrs of service. During his career with IPD/ IMPD, he served as a street patrol officer, FTO, Narcotics Detective, Physical Tactics and Firearms instructor. Andy spent 3 ½ years with IMPD in the training branch as Firearms Instructor. Along the way he has been awarded the IPD Medal of Valor, IPD Medal of Merit, and several Certificates of Commendation.

Andy now serves the ILEA as a Drill Instructor, Physical Tactics, and Firearms Instructor. He and his wife Leah have two sons, Jordan and Dayton and resides in Plainfield, IN with their dog Breacher. Andy enjoys spending time with his wife camping and travelling.

His other interests include training martial arts, firearms, and working out. He is the owner of Weidner Training and Development LLC, which specializes in firearms safety and training. Andy says he’s very excited to be a part of the ILEA family.
