In celebration of Indiana’s bicentennial, the Evansville Museum is organizing the July 24-November 27 multi-disciplinary exhibition “At the Bend in the River: Our Place on the Ohio.” Throughout its history, the city of Evansville has been impacted by the river. The city’s residents have explored, attempted to harness, battled, and enjoyed this natural resource since Evansville’s founding in 1812. The story of Evansville’s connection to the Ohio River will be covered in major topics, including the city’s evolving riverfront, life with the river, the steamboat era, the wrath of the river, and modern interaction with the river. Within the exhibition, historical artifacts and images, hands-on components, and works of art will be used to connect guests with these topics.
