Legacy Projects > Two-Thousand-Pound Food Challenge Two-Thousand-Pound Food Challenge

In every county in the state, there is a need. Boone County is no different. In Lebanon Middle School, 38 percent of the students are included in the reduced-price or free lunch program. The Shalom House in Lebanon, run by local churches and service organizations throughout the county, serves free meals each Tuesday and Saturday. On Saturdays, an average of 120 lunches are served, with many taking carry-outs for others or even their own next meal or two. Milledgeville United Methodist, a tiny church of approximately 25 people, has challenged itself to provide 2,016 pounds of food between May and December. With the Lebanon Caring Center’s blessings, the church will challenge Boone County churches to do the same.
