Legacy Projects > Hoosier Neighbors: Painting Rails to Build Crossroad Trails Hoosier Neighbors: Painting Rails to Build Crossroad Trails

The Bates-Hendricks and Fletcher Place Neighborhoods will unite to clean, prime, and paint the East Street bridge guardrails. The East Street bridge over I65/70 connects Bates-Hendricks to Fletcher Place and downtown Indianapolis. The I65/70 overpass marks the physical boundary between the two neighborhoods. Almost 50 years ago, construction of the interstate drove a wide dividing line through our neighborhoods. In celebration of the state’s bicentennial, the southeast community will join forces to set the stage and scaffolding, blow off the dust, brush off the ruse, prime the support cast, and paint a welcome and bright future for our home in Indiana.
