Legacy Projects > Dunkirk Mayors and Clerk-Treasurers Dunkirk Mayors and Clerk-Treasurers

Until this year no history was known about who served in elected positions of mayors and clerk-treasurers before 1940. An initial list of mayors from the beginning to 1935 was created by searching the state Historical Society’s microfilmed newspapers. This beginning compilation will be verified through election issues and will include political parties if known. The lists can be posted in the city building as well as in the City of Dunkirk file at the Jay County Historical Society.
