Legacy Projects > Historic Madison Railroad Loading Platform Historic Madison Railroad Loading Platform

Madison Railroads’ historic railroad platform in North Vernon is being rebuilt to celebrate the lasting legacy of Indiana’s first operating railroad in the State of Indiana. The platform will have a few of the original platform pavers, new pavers, 15 historic photos, a map, an original Pennsylvania Railroad mile marker and historic descriptions below visitors’ feet as they walk along the 243’ platform. The Bicentennial torch relay will also load at the platform on a special train that will carry the torch to the Town of Vernon.
