To celebrate the Indiana Bicentennial as well as the 50th anniversary of Rome City as an incorporated town, children in grade K-12 will be painting the windows of downtown businesses on Front Street in Rome City. Students will submit design entries for consideration in the Paint the Town Proud Window Painting Contest. Winners will be chosen from entries and invited to paint their designs on the windows of downtown buildings and businesses on April 23, 2016. The paintings will follow the theme of celebrating what makes us proud to be Hoosiers, and will depict places, people and wildlife that are integral parts of our statehood. Students will be guided and encouraged by local residents and business owners, as well as members of the non-profit town improvement organization, Advance Rome City. A celebratory pizza party for the students will follow the window painting and windows will remain painted throughout the spring and summer for the enjoyment of Rome City residents and visitors.
