Legacy Projects > Bicentennial Peanut Pusher Event Bicentennial Peanut Pusher Event

A contest based on pushing a shelled peanut with ones nose will highlight May 14, 2016 for a fun filled Bicentennial event! The peanut pushers will be grade school aged kids (k-5) from area schools. The event will take place on the newly renovated courthouse square with indoor/outdoor carpet laid across the main sidewalk. Lines will be taped off from the starting line and the finish line denoting Bicentennial year of 2016. A re enactor dressed as Col. Isaac White, the namesake of White County who died at the Battle of Tippecanoe will be on hand as the official starter. A professional announcer will continually give updates noting the demarcation lines of when the state of Indiana became a state, the lines crossed when White County was formed, the Civil War period, the 1916 Centennial, the 1974 tornado and finally the finish line of the State of Indiana’s Bicentennial. Trophies, tee shirts and ribbons will be distributed to the top “Peanut Pusher” winners by school and grade level.
