Legacy Projects > CMS Civil War Archive CMS Civil War Archive

Students from Cascade Middle School will be creating a digital archive for a collection of Civil War letters acquired for this project. The students will scan the original documents, transcribe the letters, and research the people and locations found within their letters. Through their research on the people and locations described in their letters, the students will be able to create a legacy that has the power to educate a great deal of people. The transcribed Civil War letters will be displayed in a digital archive, which will help to further promote and celebrate Indiana’s lasting legacy. This project allows students to do the work of a historian and “create history”.
