Richard Stone had the courage, foresight and determination and fully appreciated what was about to occur in the northern frontier of Indiana. Against all logic and good sense, he brought his young family to this unknown land at great personal risk. They arrived at a time of great seclusion and abject loneliness. Under those daunting circumstances, they built a new life and laid the foundation for a new community to follow. It Is by the sacrifices and efforts of such early pioneers that today we celebrate and remember the rich history of Indiana and Noble County.
