Indiana (The Musical) is a celebration of the sights and sounds of the state of Indiana performed by the Nickel Plate Players, with historically accurate information and stories from the past and present; all relevant to the future of our state. With the advice and counsel of local historians, we depict a true and accurate account of events that have shaped the state of Indiana. Accurate information regarding local Indian tribes (Delaware) who were present in the early beginnings have been included in our story. Scenes depicting the arrival of early settlers have also been included. Extensive research has been done and we are highlighting composers, writers, and other important artists, spanning the 200 years of Indiana’s existence as a state. Examples include Cole Porter (Peru, IN), Janet Jackson (Gary, IN), John Mellencamp (Seymour, IN) – to name a few. “Indiana (The Musical) is a musical documentary that tells the story of the rich history of Indiana from the founding year of 1816 through present day.
