Legacy Projects > Going Green & Eco Science Fair Going Green & Eco Science Fair

How much water would a washer wash if a washer would wash less? Challenge your skills at spotting energy foes, conduct water quality experiments, plant your own garbage garden and create masterpieces of recycled art all while saving green to be green! Meet members of environmental awareness organizations and businesses from around the state who will be available to show you the latest, greatest and simplest ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. Plus, don’t miss exhibits created by Indiana students that look to answer how science can answer questions on sustainability.

Q&A with Legacy Project Coordinator Joanna Hahn

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • This is the only environmentally themed Eco Science Fair in the State of Indiana. Since
    its inception, the fair has only grown to include more students of all ages from around
    the state. This fair helps to put the next generation's ideas in the limelight, projects
    focusing on solving some of our planets great environmental issues.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • We have seen some very unique ideas come out of this event. One student created
    their own biodegradable plastic. Another created a special filter for bathtubs and
    showers to catch microbeads so that they do not end up in our streams and rivers, and
    eventually oceans.

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project?

  • All information is available through the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites.
