Legacy Projects > Peacemakers Peacemakers

Peacemakers is a ten movement, eighty-minute work which will highlight speeches and contributions of the famous peacemakers of our time including Mahatma Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Robert F. Kennedy, Anwar Sadat, Yizak Rabin, Nelson Mandela and Jimmy Carter. In this comprehensive work, Composer and Indiana native James Aikman will memorialize these peacemakers in music, media and performance. Their inspiring ideas live on.

The work will be premiered on April 15, 2016 at the Schrott Center for the Arts, as part of the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra’s concert series and in conjunction with Butler ArtsFest. Reduced instrumentation arrangements of the work will be used in the future for educational programs in schools. The work will also be available for other orchestras to perform.
