Mississinewa 1812 commemorates the December 17-18, 1812 battles of Mississinewa fought here between 600 mounted federal troops and British allied Indians. It is a living portrayal of life as it was two centuries ago, nestled on the bank of the Mississinewa River and clustered around four historic features. Those features include Military Encampments, Indian Village, Rivertown and Wilderness Area. Eighteen Rivertown food purveyors will offer 1812 foods. There will also be 35 early 18th century master printers, artists, gunsmiths, tinsmiths, silversmiths, soap makers, candle makers and blacksmiths. We will honor Indian Statehood by focusing on life in Indiana in 1812.
