In 1916 the New Castle – Henry County Public Library received a permanent location through a generous donation from Andrew Carnegie. This enabled New Castle to be one of 64 communities receiving a “Carnegie” library. On January 17th from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., the New Castle – Henry County Public Library is hosting a kick-off reception to a year of celebrating our history over the last 100 years. The reception will feature speaker Jacob Speer, Indiana State Librarian, refreshments and a concert afterwards in the library’s auditorium.
