The Heritage Festival helps keep our heritage alive in our community. It is accomplished through demonstrations, re enactors, stage presentations and historical displays and activities. Exhibits are inside and outside of our museum. Admission to the festival and all of the activities are provided free of charge. A variety of foods, available at a nominal charge, are provided. Foot-long hot dogs, the idea of Jay County resident, are served, along with ice cream floats and sundaes, caramel corn, cotton candy and other festival foods. Crafters display their creations for sale.
The Heritage Festival expands the concept of historical education to include people of all ages. The educational aspect of the festival is a priority directly related to our mission. The activities, exhibits, performances and over-all atmosphere of the festival immerses us in our evolving heritage, giving us a unique opportunity to see how far we have come and how far we can go in the future.
