Legacy Projects > The Historic Brown County Art Gallery: 90 Years of Art The Historic Brown County Art Gallery: 90 Years of Art

The Brown County Art Gallery will host a full calendar of events that centers on our history, with exhibits of early Brown County artists. Today’s Hoosier Masters will be featured with exhibits, workshops and two other major Paint Outs, and our Future Artists will be featured in the Mabel B. Annis Student Art Competition which involves students from seven surrounding counties, giving them a chance to compete and exhibit in a professional gallery. We also have scheduled some special presentations, including a performance by “James Whitcomb Riley”, Indiana’s most famous poet, as portrayed by Riley Foundation sanctioned actor, Jeff Kuehl, as part of our annual Victorian Tea. Another exhibit will feature an artist of a different type, sign maker Gary Anderson, who has been telling Hoosiers where to go for three decades. We will also be dedicating two new permanent exhibits, “The Bill Zimmerman Gallery” dedicated to Indiana’s greatest bird painter, and a gallery dedicated to “Gustave Bauman: the Indiana Collection”, one of America’s greatest woodblock artists who started his career in Nashville.
