Legacy Projects > Restoration of Pleasant Hill Cemetery Restoration of Pleasant Hill Cemetery

Pleasant Hill Cemetery was the first cemetery in Tipton County. Approximately 80% of the stones have been knocked down, broken or damaged. The goal is to make Pleasant Hill pleasant again, and to remember our many Pioneer settlers who are buried there. The first burial was in 1837, 7 years before the formation of Tipton County. Among those resting there is a War of 1812 veteran, and 8 Civil War soldiers. We want this cemetery to be restored to its original beauty and to honor those buried there.
