In an effort to help the State of Indiana mark its 200th birthday in 2016, the Lawrence County Bicentennial Committee will address the Youth and Education Pillar of the Indiana Bicentennial Commission’s four pillars by working with local schools to produce a 2016 Lawrence County calendar featuring artwork created by area students. Organizers hope to encourage students to be imaginative and create local scenes relating their illustrations to the month, the season, holidays, the weather, and the like. Each class will be assigned a corresponding month of the year. All students, whether or not their creations are featured in the publication, will have their artwork displayed at the Lawrence County Museum.
