We are planning two evenings of performance during a weekend in late September of 2016. This project will observe Indiana’s Bicentennial and celebrate the wonderful cultural and natural resources of the state. The festival will interpret Indiana dunes ecology and history through art and celebrate the partnership between the arts and ecology. Our project is inspired by the historic Pageant of 1917 that started the movement to protect the Indian Dunes Beach in Porter County. It will include a chamber orchestra, a dance performance by Pine Elementary students, a promenade theatre, a long hiking trail and dancing nymphs from the Indian Ballet Theatre on the beach at sunset to capture the drama and variation of the rare and incredible ecology that was protected here 50 years ago when the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore was founded.
