Legacy Projects > Recording the American Perspective Recording the American Perspective

RECORDING THE AMERICAN PERSPECTIVE is a collaboration of the Marshall County Museum and the Weidner School of Inquiry to digitally record stories of World War II as told by the veterans who served. The Museum identified and contacted the veterans, and scheduled face to face interviews with high school students, who had prepared by researching the era. The students generated questions and videotaped the resulting conversations. Several veterans brought artifacts for the students to examine, and many inter-generational relationships were built.

The students compiled and edited the material, producing a composite DVD of the interviews. The Museum is arranging an event to celebrate and showcase the DVD to the general public. Each interviewee will receive a copy of the DVD, and it will also become part of the Museum’s military exhibit.  The Weidner School of Inquiry and the Museum have forged a relationship that will continue to bring to life the real stories of real people for years to come.
