Children seeking Evansville Psychiatric Children’s Center services must be referred by their local Community Mental Health Centers, also known as their “gatekeeper”. Children must be evaluated by the mental health center to determine level of care. Upon referral to EPCC, the Admissions Review Committee will review the information from the mental health center to determine appropriateness for the facility. If it is determined that the mental, physical, and emotional needs of the child can be met, a voluntary admission to EPCC will be scheduled, and a pre-admission paperwork packet will be sent to the child’s parent or guardian. The goal of EPCC is to assist the child on his/her road to recovery, give him/her the skills necessary to succeed in school and the community, and give parents/guardians tools to effectively continue their child’s development and recovery at home.
