When is the I AM assessment held?
The I AM assessment window is held within April and May annually. View this year’s assessment windows on the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) Assessment webpage.
What is the test design for I AM?
I AM is an online, one-on-one, stage-adaptive test for all content areas. This means that the assessment will be delivered in two parts. In Part 1, all students will receive the same test form, consisting of items from a range of complexities. Performance on Part 1 determines placement into one of three tiered forms for Part 2. Each tiered form contains a combination of items from adjacent levels. Performance on items from both parts are combined for a final summative student score.
Who participates in I AM?
A case conference committee may determine that I AM is the most appropriate assessment utilizing the criteria for determining eligibility to participate. More information regarding participation in the alternate assessment can be found below.
For more information about ESSA’s 1% cap on participation in the alternate assessment, please visit the Alternate Assessment ESSA 1% Cap page here.
How will students receive scores?
Scores will become available to relevant users through the Cambium Assessment, Inc. (CAI) Centralized Reporting System (CRS). Schools are responsible for providing results to students and families locally using the Individual Student Report (ISR).
