Sex Offender Registry

Welcome to the Grant County Sex Offender Registry

Matthew Ogden

Detective Lieutenant

Grant County Sex Offender Registry Coordinator

Phone: 765-662-9864 ext. 4214

Welcome to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Registry page. My role is to help registrants stay compliant with Indiana law while also supporting the safety and transparency our community expects. This page is designed to provide clear guidance, answer common questions, and explain how the registry works in Grant County.

The registry is managed in accordance with Indiana Code 11-8-8, and my goal is to make the process as straightforward as possible. Whether you are reporting a change, completing a required registration, or simply trying to understand your obligations, I am here to assist you. Clear communication helps prevent misunderstandings and keeps everyone in compliance.

This page is also a resource for the public. Community members have a right to accurate information, and maintaining an up-to-date registry is an important part of public safety.

If you are unsure about your responsibilities or need clarification, please reach out. It is always better to ask questions early than risk falling out of compliance. My office is here to provide guidance and ensure the process is handled professionally, respectfully, and correctly.

72-Hour Reporting Requirement

Under Indiana law, offenders must report any and all changes to registration information within 72 hours, in person and in writing.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Address or living situation changes
  • Employment or school updates
  • Vehicle additions or changes
  • Internet identifiers and social media accounts
  • Travel or temporary relocation
  • Name or identifying information updates

Holidays and weekends DO count toward the 72-hour reporting window. It is the offender’s responsibility to plan accordingly.

Failure to report within 72 hours may result in criminal charges.

The Sheriff’s Office does not verify whether an address complies with the 1,000-foot rule. Determining whether a residence is legally compliant is the sole responsibility of the offender prior to moving.

Reporting Must Be Done In Person

No registration changes will be accepted by email, phone call, text message, voicemail, or through a third party.

All required updates must be completed in person to maintain the legal integrity of the registry.

If there is uncertainty about whether something qualifies as a reportable change, offenders must ask before the reporting deadline passes. It is the offender’s responsibility to understand and comply with all reporting requirements.

Failure to follow registry requirements is a criminal offense under Indiana law.
