Project LOVE

Project L.O.V.E.  (Law Officer Voucher & Enforcement) is a program designed to increase the safety of children traveling in motor vehicles through proper education and installation of child restraints through certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs). The program is specific to law enforcement as it helps boost enforcement of Indiana laws, while also providing officers with a resource they can offer to caregivers when they recognize that a child is not properly restrained in a vehicle.

When an officer recognizes that a child is not properly restrained in a vehicle based on Indiana's Child Passenger Safety Law they may issue a Project L.O.V.E. voucher along with a citation to the driver.

As of September 2014, Project L.O.V.E. vouchers were added to E-citations and now automatically print when a child restraint violation is issued. Paper vouchers can also be used if the officer does not have E-citations or would like to issue one at the scene of a crash.

The driver can then redeem the voucher for education at any Child Passenger Safety Inspection Station (CPSIS) or clinic. While the voucher is not intended to replace a citation, in some cases the judge may waive the citation fee if the violator shows proof of redeeming the voucher.
