Joby D. Jerrells was appointed to the Commission on Aug. 17, 2026, by Governor Mike Braun.

Commissioner Jerrells has extensive government service at the local, state, and national levels. Prior to his appointment, Commissioner Jerrells served as the Chief Counsel of the Advisory Division in the Office of the Attorney General, Command Counsel of the U.S. Army Financial Management Command, General Counsel of the Indiana Gaming Commission, Deputy Attorney General, and as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. While employed with the U.S. Army, Commissioner Jerrells served in a detail assignment in Washington, D.C. as Ethics Counsel to the Office of the Vice President of the United States.

Commissioner Jerrells holds a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and earned a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs in Bloomington, where he studied under former IURC Commissioner Karl O’Lessker. Commissioner Jerrells earned his law degree with honors from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis. He and his wife reside in Bedford.
