Returned Refund Checks

Refund checks are frequently returned to the Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) because of the wrong address. Verify your mailing address on file by using INTIME, DOR’s customer portal:

  1. Log in to INTIME.
  2. Select the “All Actions” tab.
  3. Find the Name & addresses tile and choose “Manage names & addresses” link.
  4. If necessary, change your address.

If the reason your check was returned was due to a bad address, your refund check will be reissued once your address is updated.

If the account shows your correct home address, message Customer Service through INTIME or call 317-232-2240. Press 2 to reach Customer Service about the reason your refund was returned.

Taxpayers can manage their individual and business obligations using INTIME. Some of INTIME’s self-service options include:

  • Managing tax accounts online: Access and manage individual income tax accounts, file returns, make payments, and communicate securely with the DOR.
  • Secure Communication: Send and receive secure messages with DOR representatives regarding tax-related questions or issues.
  • Checking refund status: Easily track the status of your state tax return refund.
  • Requesting extensions: Request extensions of time to file.
  • Payment plans: Set up and manage payment plans for tax liabilities exceeding $100 without contacting customer service.

If you are not registered, create an online account at intime.dor.in.gov. Select “New to INTIME? Sign up” and follow instructions to complete the process.
